June 8 & 10, 2017
Lydia Mendelssohn Theater
The New Verismo Series

This June Arbor Opera Theater is co-producing a festival with several other arts organizations from Southeast Michigan. Come journey with us as we explore the depths of human existence and the cost of shame and stigma. The festival will include various types of musical and theatrical performances, along with lectures and activities that will allow audience and artist alike to go deeper into the meaning behind all great art.

AOT will offer two versions of Suor Angelica each evening: A traditional production offered in Italian, and a new English language adaptation set in the Magdalen Laundries of mid-century Ireland. Two casts of principals will bring new intensity to this masterpiece, accompanied by full orchestra. Seating is reserved and tickets for Suor Angelica can be purchased separately from the remainder of the festival.
